Dear colleagues,
Final plans are underway for the 2008 VELB - ILCA Conference! The theme is “A World Wide View on Breastfeeding”. The conference will be held October 1 - 3, 2008 at the Austria Center Vienna, Austria.
NEW! A DETAILED CONFERENCE PROGRAM with short abstracts for each of the 19 plenary sessions, 6 workshops and 62 concurrent sessions is now online. Look at the wide range of breastfeeding rates worldwide and find out what conditions and interventions have led to impressive [breastfeeding] rates in some parts of the world. It is always the committed effort of dedicated people which moves breastfeeding promotion ahead. Research makes a contribution, but it's the projects, programs, broad-based education and campaigns which really cause change. Political will and the level of public funding for breastfeeding are also significant factors. How well the WHO International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes is implemented plays an important role as well. Discover the different approaches to adjusting BFHI for NICUs, well-baby clinics and the community as a whole and how these broader initiatives impact on breastfeeding. Whatever your passion - bonding, breastfeeding counseling, caring for prematures, ethics, infant feeding in emergencies, research or just discovering new ways from colleagues around the world to help mothers give their babies the best start in life, this conference has something for you.
